College Scholarships

Families at FBC Garland have established several scholarships to provide limited financial assistance for students who are members or former members of the church, submit applications on time, and meet the criteria for which the scholarships were established. 
Graduating high school seniors can download a scholarship application by scrolling down and clicking the button listed just below the scholarships for high school seniors.
Returning college students can download a scholarship application by scrolling down and clicking the button listed just below the scholarships for returning college students.
Scholarships Available For High School Graduating Seniors:

Craig Bennett Memorial Scholarship - Must be a graduating high school senior who models faithful Christian  leadership in a variety of activities and programs, both at church and school.
Derrick Castell Memorial Music Scholarship - Must be an entering or returning student majoring in music.

Charles L. & Willlie Mae Cockrell Scholarlship - Must be an entering or returning student to Baylor University.
Joe G. Cooper Memorial Scholarship - Must be attending a college or trade school and planning to, or currently majoring in Construction Science, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or other cosely related major.
Mildred & Hal Dodson Memorial Scholarship - Awarded to a graduating high school senior without regard to race, creed, sex, or religion.
Dennis Wayne Duke Memorial Scholarship - Must be someone who is a caring person and who is interested in Counseling and/or Psychology fields. If no one meets those requirements, the committee is to give the scholarship to a deserving graduating high school senior.
Walter Fleeson Memorial Scholarship - Awarded to any deserving graduating high school senior.
General Scholarship - Awarded to any deserving graduating high school senior.
James & Emma Hunt Memorial Scholarship - Awarded to any deserving graduating high school senior.
Evelyn Landress Memorial Scholarship - Must be an entering or returning student at Baylor University.
Roger & Dorothy McDonald Scholarship - Must be an entering or returning student at Baylor University.
Sidney & Fred Meisenheimer Baylor Scholarship - Must be an entering or returning student at Baylor University. Awarded to students who are United States citizens and whose parents are United States citizens.
Sidney & Fred Meisenheimer Texas A & M Scholarship - Must be an entering or returning student at Texas A & M University. Awarded to students who ae United States citizens and whose parents are United States citizens.
Mosher Scholarship - Awarded to any deserving graduating high school senior.
Ruth & Jack Patterson Scholarship - Awarded to a graduating high school senior going into the teaching profession.
Paul & Jo Ann Stephens Youth Scholarship - Awarded to any deserving graduating high school senior.
W.C. Stephens Memorial Scholarship - Awarded to any deserving graduating high school senior.
Carr & Janie Suter Scholarship - Must be enrolled at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Dallas Theological Seminary, or Denver Seminary.

Deacon Scholarship– based on student merit, not financial need or school, and include the following:

  >  Student must be graduating high school during the current school year.
  >  Student must be an active member of First Baptist Garland for at least one year prior to the application due date, as verfied by the Student Ministry Office.
  >  Student must be accepted by an accredited college, university, or technical school.
  >  Student must accrue a minimum of 40 volunteer/community service hours during the 12 months prior to the application due date.
  >  Students must submit two letters of recommendation: one of which is from a First Baptist Garland member 
who is not a relative; and one from school or place of employment.
  >  Students must submit an essay detailing the reason for applying for the scholarship, as well as career plans.

Scholarships Available for Returning College Students:

Joseph P. Bevilacqua Memorial Scholarhship - Must be a returning student who is attending a 4-yr college or university and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Derrick Castell Memorial Music Scholarship - Must be an entering or returning student majoring in music.

Dillie Mae Graham Scholarship - Awarded to a junior or senior undergraduate student attending a Texas state college or university.
Ed & Re Jackson College Council Scholarship - Must be a successful student with at least 30 credit hours, active participation, leadership, and faithfulness in the college community, and awarded based on need, grade, and career.

Evelyn Landress Memorial Scholarship - Must be an entering or returning student at Baylor University.
Roger & Dorothy McDonald Scholarship - Must be an entering or returning student at Baylor University.
Sidney & Fred Meisenheimer Baylor Scholarship - Must be an entering or returning student at Baylor University. Awarded to students who are United States citizens and whose parents are United States citizens.
Sidney & Fred Meisenheimer Texas A & M Scholarship - Must be an entering or returning at Texas A & M University. Awarded to students who are United States citizens and whose parents are United States citizens.
Sewell Memorial Scholarship - Must be a student pursuing a master's or doctorate degree.
Carr & Janie Suter Scholarship - Must be enrolled at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Dallas Theological Seminary, or Denver Seminary.
