Introducing New Deacon Candidates for 2026

The Deacon Ministry introduces the following candidates for Deacon Ministry beginning January 2026.  An ordination service and reception will be held in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday, November 16, at 6:00 p.m.

Jim and Gena Corley

Jim and Gena joined First Baptist Garland in October of 2022 and are members of the Glory Days Sunday School class.  They have been married 34 years.  Jim serves with the Men's Ministry on their work days throughout the year and went on the mission trip to the Valley in 2024.  He plays bass trombone in the church orchestra.  Jim enjoys anything outdoors especially hunting.  In their spare time, Jim and Gena enjoy spending time at home with their dog Penny or at the farm with friends and  family.

Kasey Dooley

Kasey and Mandy Dooley have been members of FBC Garland for about 10 years.  They met when they were 15, married in their early twenties, and have been married for 30 years this past August.  They have three children in their early to late twenties.  They have served in a variety of capacities in the three churches where they have been members, from singing in the choirs and praise teams to missions overseas.  Kasey was ordained as a deacon previously as a member at South Garland Baptist Church.  They both work in the Garland ISD, Mandy as a fourth-grade math teacher and Kasey as a speech-language pathologist.  They have always enjoyed hanging out together, whether at church, on a trip, or just chilling at home with their dog Chloe.  God has blessed their relationship/marriage all these years and has always been their great Provider.

Mack and Jennifer Easter

Mack and Jennifer Easter have been members of FBC Garland for 3.5 years.  They met in Mobile, Alabama, and have been married for 35 years.  They spent 25 years in various locations while Mack served in the United States Air Force, and Jennifer ensured that the home was a nurturing place for their children. Their daughter Jenna, and their son Drew (and his wife Sadie), live in the DFW area. Over the years they have been active in service - in one location they hosted a small church in their house.  They enjoy playing board games, spending time with their family, helping others in need, and Alabama football.

Kenny and Nancy McCord

Kenny and his wife, Nancy, have been members of FBC Garland since January 2011. They are members of the Forever Young Sunday School Department. Kenny serves on the Trustee Committee and schedules the scorekeepers and scoreboard operators for Upward Basketball. Nancy helps facilitate the Tuesday Night Ladies Bible Study and they both serve as Sunday greeters. They will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this next September. They have one daughter, Laura, who is a doctoral candidate at Texas Tech. Kenny and Nancy are both retired and enjoy traveling, working crossword puzzles together, watching anything Aggie sport related, and playing with their one year old golden retriever, Bailey.

Jose and Janet Torres

Jose has been a member at FBC Garland for two years.  He currently serves as an usher during the first service, participates in the Pastor Support team and is involved, along with his wife, in the First Impressions ministry as Greeters.  Janet also serves one Sunday a month in the nursery. Jose and Janet are so thankful for being led to FBC Garland.  We have grown spiritually through Pastor Ammon’s teaching, Rick Shultz In-Depth Sunday School class and Wednesday night’s bible study. When Jose is not working, he enjoys fishing, fishing and ... more fishing!

Brandon and Sarah Wyatt

Brandon grew up in Richardson, TX, but attended church in Garland where he was saved in 6th grade. He is the husband of Sarah Wyatt and serves as the Recreation Ministry Associate here at First Baptist Garland as well as one of the teachers in the Covenant Marriage class. He and Sarah have four boys and two grandchildren with one more on the way. In his free time Brandon enjoys watching and playing sports.
