An update from Pastor Greg - May 1
Dear FBCG Church Family,
I know many of you have been anticipating the the re-opening of our church facilities, as have I. You may be wondering what Phase 1 of the governor's guidelines announced this week means for FBCG. I wanted to share some thoughts with you.
The Phase 1 guidelines issued by our governor this week began with these words, “Houses of worship should conduct as many of their activities as possible remotely."
While restaurants, movie theaters, and even some churches are opening this weekend, it is necessary for FBCG to continue our online-only format for the next several weeks. Following the governor’s announcement concerning Phase 2, which is scheduled for mid-May, we will re-evaluate and make further decisions at that time.
As pastor, I want you to know how much I miss seeing you each Sunday, and I know you miss seeing each other as well. However, the way a church operates is different than many other aspects of society, and we want to make sure the steps we take are in the best interests of the FBCG membership and our community. Because we are able to worship online effectively and many groups are meeting together via technology, we believe it is best to follow that same pattern at this time.
I am anxious for our return to FBCG, but do not want to do so in an unhealthy manner or one which may endanger people. We want to love God and our neighbor. Due to the size of our congregation and facilities, it requires prudent measures to ensure that everyone is socially distanced. So, until we can do so safely, we will continue to meet via live stream, and other virtual formats, until further notice, just as we have done so the past 7 weeks.
Please pray for wisdom for the FBCG Ministry Team and Staff, our church leaders, as well as our national, state, and local leaders. Thank you for your encouragement, prayers, and financial obedience. You are enabling our church to engage in tremendous ministry opportunities during the pandemic.
God is in control and will use FBCG in even greater ways in the days ahead. He has purpose in the process. Hope to see you soon.
Dr. Greg Ammons
