Welcome to The Nest
Our goal in The Nest is to be a great support system for young families as they lay firm foundations of faith in their preschoolers. The preschool years are foundational in the spiritual development of children. Even the youngest baby is learning that church is a safe and happy place to be. Older preschoolers can learn more about God and our relationship with Him. As children grow, their ability to know God grows too. We pray that the foundation laid during the preschool years will lead each child to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

What to Expect?
When you enter The Nest you and your child will be welcomed by our greeters who will be happy to show you to The Nest information desk.  There you will receive a numbered security nametag for your child and yourself.  Pagers are also available.  If you are needed during the morning, the pager will vibrate so be sure to wear it at all times.

Next you will be escorted to your child's classroom and greeted by their teacher.  Your child's class is determined by their age as of September 1.  Promotion will occur with the regular school year.

Parents of infants are asked to complete an information sheet that will help us take the best care of your child.  Information such as feeding times, sleeping times, allergies, and special needs are included on these sheets.  For your convenience, this form is also available online to be printed and filled out at home.  Newborn Information Sheet       Older child Information Sheet

After completing the check-in process, say a quick "good-bye" to your child and leave. It is common for preschoolers to cry when a parent leaves. This usually does not last long and is a normal show of preference for parents. A teacher will comfort your child and help them become interested in a toy or activity. Delaying the process by entering the room or waiting at the door will only extend or increase separation anxiety. If your child cries for an extended period of time, we promise to page you! Crying becomes less common with regular attendance.

What to Bring
When packing a bag for your child, please include each of the following items that are age appropriate:

  • Two or three disposable diapers (no cloth diapers, please)
  • A complete change of clothes including underwear or Pull-ups
  • Bottle(s) of milk, formula, juice, or water
    • A private, comfortable room is available to Nursing mothers.
  • Sippy cup
  • Pacifier, if used

Please label all personal items with your child's first and last name. This helps us keep track of your child's items.

Please limit toys or other personal items that might get lost, broken, or fought over. Likewise, please do not bring food into the preschool classrooms (except for the infant rooms and in the case of food allergies). Food brought from home often causes other children to become upset. A break room is available in The Nest if you need to feed your child before dropping them off at their classroom.

What We Provide
Snacks
  Crawlers: plain Cheerios
1's: Cheese Fish Crackers and Juice
2's - Kinder: Cheese Fish Crackers and Water
If your child has an allergy to these snacks, please indicate it on their security nametag and let a teacher know. In addition, please feel free to bring an appropriate snack from home.

Curriculum
We believe that even our littlest ones can learn! Regular learning experiences are planned and reinforced with songs, Bible thoughts, and age-appropriate learning activities.

Family Take-Home Pages
Each child will receive an age-appropriate activity page that includes the week's Bible story, Bible verse, and a related activity. Parents can reinforce what was learned at church by reading the story and the Bible verse at home during the week.  For further activity ideas that reinforce Sunday's lesson, click on The Nest News on the The Nest Homepage.

Pick-up Procedures
When you pick up your child from class, the teacher will check the number on your child's security nametag against the number on the tag you present. Children will only be released to an adult with the correct security tag.

The teacher will also help gather your child's belongings, art work, and take-home page.  Please make sure that all of your child's personal items have been returned to you before you leave.

Safety and Security
Safety and security are taken seriously in The Nest for two very important reasons. Children are precious to us and we strive to take the best care of them physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Secondly, we want you to feel comfortable leaving your child in our care. We want preschool parents to be able to participate in worship and Bible study knowing that their preschoolers are being tenderly cared for in The Nest.

Following is a list of steps that we have taken to ensure that all children are safe and secure in The Nest:

  • Volunteers and paid staff are screened (including a background check) and receive training before working in any preschool classroom
  • We maintain a "two Adult rule" in all classrooms
  • Classroom doors remain locked
  • Numbered security nametags are used for all children ages birth – Kindergarten
  • Silent pagers are available
  • A volunteer On-Call Medical Team is in place on Sunday mornings
