Sunday School
Sundays at 10:00 a.m.
Like a nest of baby birds waiting for their mother to bring dinner, young children are hungry to learn! They are also learning all the time…through their five senses and hand-on experiences. Preschool and Kindergarten Sunday School in The Nest is designed with this in mind.
Our age-grouped classes are led by trained, gifted volunteer teachers who offer age-appropriate learning activities to help each child learn and grow. Our classrooms are set-up in learning centers such as homeliving, books, blocks, and puzzles, that help in the discovery process. But most importantly, the Bible is the basis for everything we teach in The Nest!
All classes (newborn through kindergarten) are located in The Nest, on the 1st floor of the main church building. Please visit the coordinator’s desk in The Nest lobby, to receive your child’s room assignment.

Worship Care in The Nest
Sundays at 8:45 & 11:15 a.m.
Birth – Pre-K |
 |
While 10:00 a.m. is in preschool Bible Study, * preschoolers (birth through PreK) are invited to stay for two hours on Sunday mornings. During the 8:45 and 11:15 services, Worship Care teachers use lessons that place an emphasis on helping children learn to know and worship God. One Sunday they make balls bounce on a parachute to make rain for Noah's Ark. The next week, they rescue dolls from the lion's den while they discover that they can trust God. Every Sunday they also enjoy "sing-your-heart-out songs and DVDs.
* an 11:15 Bible Study class is also offered for Kindergarteners.
In the fall, Kindergarteners can participate in a class designed just for them. KinderWorship helps Kindergartners (and their parents) as they begin the important process of transitioning into "big church". Through fun, age-appropriate lessons and activities, KinderWorship helps children gain a basic knowledge of Who we worship, why we worship, and how we worship. It also helps them become familiar with what happens in a worship service.
Interested in becoming a VIP (Volunteer in Preschool)?
VIPs teach in Worship Care once-a-month for one hour. Very little preparation time is required and all the material and lessons are in the classrooms when teachers arrive. We ask that volunteers be church members for at least six months and submit to a criminal background screening before becoming a VIP. To volunteer, or for more information, please contact the Preschool Ministry Office.

DivorceCare for Kids
DivorceCare for Kids is a special group to help children, ages 5-13, heal from the hurt caused by the separation or divorce of their parents. At our weekly DC4K group, kids make friends who understand the feelings and experiences they are going through because of the divorce of their parents. Best of all, children will learn how God's love can strengthen them and help turn tears to hope and joy!
Our DC4K group meets weekly in 13-week cycles, across the hall (Room 360) from where their parents meet in Room 350 for DivorceCare. We combine games, crafts, activities, music, and videos to create a fun atmosphere where children feel comfortable and accepted. They look forward to each time their "DC4K" family gets together.
If you would like additional information or would like to register your child for DC4K please contact us or call Trisha Beavers in the Church Office at (972-276-7194, x239).

Special Classes
Date: Sundays, beginning August 28, 2011
Time: 5 pm - 7 pm
Location: The Nest, room 129
Who: Pre-K and Kindergarten children
Details: In Luke 10:42, Jesus tells us that there is only one thing worth being concerned about, and that is a growing relationship with Him. That’s what Flight School is all about—helping kids grow their friendship with Jesus. As they experience the Scripture and do the activities, they’ll be building that relationship in a real and relevant way.
Parenting Classes
Sundays 5-7 pm
From time to time special parenting classes are offered to help support our young families. Please watch the church website, bulletin and newsletter for specific information and dates.
Family Dedication Services/Blessing the Next Generation Classes
For many young parents, the first step on the road to raising their children to know and love Jesus, is to participate in a Family Dedication service. These special services are planned twice a year - on Mother's Day and in early December - and are devoted to the families of newborns.
At First Baptist, we feel so strongly about the partnership between parents and the church, that we have created a class called Blessing the Next Generation. This class is the first step in the Family Dedication process. It is offered twice a year, shortly before the Dedication services.
To register for a class and dedication service, please contact the Preschool Ministry Office.
