Sunday School
Sundays at 10:00 a.m.
Like a nest of baby birds waiting for their mother to bring dinner, young children are hungry to learn! They are also learning all the time…through their five senses and hand-on experiences. Preschool and Kindergarten Sunday School in The Nest is designed with this in mind.
Our age-grouped classes are led by trained, gifted volunteer teachers who offer age-appropriate learning activities to help each child learn and grow. Our classrooms are set-up in learning centers such as homeliving, books, blocks, and puzzles, that help in the discovery process. But most importantly, the Bible is the basis for everything we teach in The Nest!
All classes (newborn through kindergarten) are located in The Nest, on the 1st floor of the main church building. Please visit the coordinator’s desk in The Nest lobby, to receive your child’s room assignment.

Worship Care in The Nest
Sundays at 8:45 & 11:15 a.m.
Birth – Pre-K |
 |
Loving and secure care is available in The Nest during all three morning worship services. While the 10:00 a.m. hour is Preschool Sunday School, Worship Care is available during the 8:45 and 11:15 a.m. services. Worship Care is staffed by screened and trained once-a-month volunteers. Children may participate in Worship Care from birth through their Pre-K year. Kindergarten and school-age children join their parents in worship.
Kids Own Worship
During their last two years in Worship Care, older preschoolers participate in Kid's Own Worship where they build a worship foundation before going to "big church" with their parents. During Kid's Own Worship, kids learn to focus on God in a personal way. They sing...shout...and celebrate God's goodness and love and they explore why God is worthy of their praise.
Interested in becoming a VIP (Volunteer in Preschool)?
VIPs teach in Worship Care once-a-month for one hour. Very little preparation time is required and all the material and lessons are in the classrooms when teachers arrive. We ask that volunteers be church members for at least six months and submit to a criminal background screening before becoming a VIP. To volunteer, or for more information, please contact the Preschool Ministry Office.

DivorceCare for Kids
DivorceCare for Kids is a special group to help children, ages 5-13, heal from the hurt caused by the separation or divorce of their parents. At our weekly DC4K group, kids make friends who understand the feelings and experiences they are going through because of the divorce of their parents. Best of all, children will learn how God's love can strengthen them and help turn tears to hope and joy!
Our DC4K group meets weekly in 13-week cycles, across the hall (Room 360) from where their parents meet in Room 350 for DivorceCare. We combine games, crafts, activities, music, and videos to create a fun atmosphere where children feel comfortable and accepted. They look forward to each time their "DC4K" family gets together.
If you would like additional information or would like to register your child for DC4K please contact us or call Trisha Beavers in the Church Office at (972-276-7194, x239).

Parenting Classes
Sundays 5-7 pm
From time to time special parenting classes are offered to help support our young families. Please watch the church website, bulletin and newsletter for specific information and dates.

Family Dedication Services/Blessing the Next Generation Classes
For many young parents, the first step on the road to raising their children in the Lord and in the church is to participate in a Family Dedication service. These special services are planned twice a year - on Mother's Day and in early December - and are devoted to the families of newborns as they dedicate themselves to bring up their children to know the Lord.
At First Baptist, we feel so strongly about the partnership between parents and the Church, that we have created a new class called Blessing the Next Generation. This class is a prerequisite to participating in a Family Dedication service at FBCG. It is offered twice a year, shortly before the Dedication services, and is led by our Senior Pastor and the entire education team.
To register for a class and dedication service, please contact the Preschool Ministry Office.
New Kid in the Pew
At the end of the summer as new kindergarteners prepare to join their parents in worship, they are invited to a New Kid in the Pew Party. The party helps to celebrate this big step in their lives. Kids make Big Church bags and parents receive invaluable tips on how to help their child learn to worship.
Their first Sunday in Big Church is special too as they are recognized and welcomed by the entire church family.
